Where to Buy Lab Grown Diamonds in Dubai: A Local Buyer's Guide
Dubai has one of the largest diamond retail markets in the world, built almost entirely around natural diamonds. Lab grown diamonds are newer to that market, and the buying experience isn't standardized yet. Selection, expertise, and certification practices vary far more between sellers than they do for natural stones.
This guide covers where lab grown diamonds are sold in Dubai, what certification should look like, and the red flags to know before you buy.
The safest choice is a seller who certifies every stone with a verifiable report number, answers lab grown vs. natural questions directly, and lets you see the stone before committing. That's the standard BÄL works to. Every lab diamond we sell is certified and selected by a certified gemologist with 20 years in the diamond trade, and you can buy online or in person at our Gold & Diamond Park showroom by appointment.

Where Can You Buy Lab Grown Diamonds in Dubai?
Is Gold & Diamond Park a Good Place to Buy Lab Grown Diamonds?
Gold & Diamond Park is a retail complex, not a single store or a certifying body. It houses dozens of independent jewelers, and lab grown selection varies widely between them. Some carry certified lab grown stock, others carry little or none, and not every shop clearly separates lab grown from natural.

BÄL's private showroom is inside Gold & Diamond Park, Building 6 to be specific, specializes in lab grown diamonds, so there's no ambiguity about what you're looking at. Visits are by appointment, which means a dedicated consultation rather than a walk-in counter.
Can You Buy Lab Grown Diamonds at the Dubai Diamond Exchange?
The Dubai Diamond Exchange, part of DMCC, is primarily a trading and wholesale hub, not a consumer storefront. It's worth knowing this exists so you don't plan a trip expecting to walk in and buy a ring, that's not what this venue is for.
Do Dubai Gold Souks and Independent Jewelers Sell Lab Grown Diamonds?
Dubai's souks and independent jewelers carry diamonds broadly, but lab grown availability is inconsistent across them. Some carry a real selection, many don't carry lab grown stock at all, or carry very little. It's worth confirming by phone or online before making a special trip to any specific shop.
Is It Safe to Buy Lab Grown Diamonds Online in the UAE?
Online lab grown diamond retailers are a growing option in the UAE. The main trade-off is that you can't physically inspect the stone before buying, unless the retailer offers something that bridges that gap, such as video consultations or a showroom appointment alongside the online catalog. BÄL addresses this two ways: every stone comes with a certificate you can verify directly with the issuing lab, and any piece in our ready-made catalog can be viewed in person at our Dubai showroom before you decide.
What to Check Before You Buy: Certifications
Certification matters more for lab grown diamonds than it does for natural ones, in most cases, a stone can't be reliably identified as lab grown or natural, or accurately graded, through visual inspection alone. A proper certificate is the only real verification.
Gemological Institute of America
GIA is one of the two labs most commonly associated with lab grown diamond certification. Effective October 1, 2025, GIA discontinued the traditional detailed color and clarity grading scale for newly submitted lab grown diamonds, replacing it with a simplified "Premium" or "Standard" classification, sub-standard stones receive no quality designation at all. GIA made this change because the vast majority of lab grown stones fall into a narrow, high-quality range, making the detailed scale built for natural diamond rarity less useful for factory-produced stones. If you're comparing a lab grown diamond's certificate against one issued before October 2025, keep in mind the two may use different grading formats.
International Gemological Institute
IGI currently certifies the largest volume of lab grown diamonds globally, and is likely what most lab grown stock sold in Dubai is actually certified by. It's BÄL's primary certifying lab.
HRD Antwerp
HRD Antwerp, historically a major diamond certification body, stopped issuing certificates for loose lab grown diamonds effective January 1, 2026, following an initial announcement in mid-2025. HRD now declines loose lab grown submissions entirely for commercial certification, retaining lab access only for internal research or for grading finished jewelry pieces that already contain a lab grown stone. If you're offered an HRD certificate for a loose lab grown stone dated after January 2026, that's worth double-checking directly, since it falls outside HRD's current scope. An HRD certificate on an older lab grown stone, on finished jewelry, or on a natural diamond, is a separate matter and isn't affected by this change.
A legitimate certificate should show the stone's carat, cut, color, and clarity, the certifying lab's name, and a report number. That report number should be independently verifiable directly on the issuing lab's own website, not just taken on the seller's word.
How Does BÄL Select Its Lab Grown Diamonds?
A certificate tells you a stone's grades. It doesn't tell you which of two identically graded stones looks better in natural light. That part is selection.
Every BÄL diamond is chosen by a certified gemologist with 20 years in the diamond trade, assessed on:
-
Cut and proportions
-
Color
-
Clarity
-
Fluorescence
-
Visual performance in natural light

Only stones that meet all five go into a BÄL piece. Each is then set in 18k gold and made to order in our Dubai atelier.
Red Flags to Watch For
A few patterns are worth treating as warning signs, regardless of which retailer or venue you're buying from:
-
No certification offered, or a certificate from a lab you can't independently verify
-
Pressure tactics, urgency framing like "today only" pricing is a common tactic in high-tourist-traffic retail areas and isn't how a confident, transparent seller typically operates
-
No verifiable report number, if a seller can't or won't give you the certificate's report number to check independently, that's a reason to walk away
-
Vague answers about lab grown vs. natural, the price difference between the two creates a real incentive for misrepresentation, so a seller should be direct and specific about which one you're looking at.
-
No clear return or exchange policy, a legitimate retailer should have one in writing, not just a verbal assurance.
Buying Online vs. In Person in Dubai
Buying in person lets you see and compare stones directly before deciding. Buying online is generally more convenient and can offer better value, since online retailers typically carry lower overhead than a physical storefront.
A good online-first retailer should still offer something beyond a website catalog: a way to verify certification, a video consultation to see the stone before committing, or a physical showroom available by appointment for anyone who wants to see it in person before buying.
BÄL is set up for both. Browse and order online from anywhere, or book a showroom appointment to see the stone first. Certification and selection standards are the same either way.
Why Buy Lab Grown Diamonds from BÄL in Dubai?
BÄL operates as an appointment-only showroom, located in Gold & Diamond Park, alongside a full online catalog, so you can browse and buy online, or book a showroom appointment to see stones in person before deciding, whichever fits how you'd rather buy. If you're specifically shopping for an engagement ring, BÄL's engagement ring styles guide covers the most popular settings and shapes. Every setting is available in solid 18k gold, if you're deciding between karats, BÄL's 14k vs 18k gold guide breaks down the difference.

Every BÄL diamond is certified, with certificate numbers that can be independently verified directly with the issuing lab. Since pieces are made to order, BÄL doesn't offer standard returns or exchanges, but does accept resizing returns at no extra cost, and a one-time design exchange if a gifted piece isn't the right fit, both subject to the piece being unworn, unaltered, and not modified by a third party.
